It’s All Happening Here was originally conceived to be a large outdoor celebration event sharing creativity, theatre and performance across the town in Partnership with Creative Darlington and Arts Council England. Unfortunately, when the global Covid pandemic struck we had to change our plans and do things a little differently!
We hosted a number of online projects, workshops and creative activities. We contacted local and regional artists that we knew and had a relationship with Darlington or that we had worked in Darlington previously. This included a letter writing project, we commissioned a new song for the town, writers and actors created responses to Darlington, visual arts, walking and wellbeing projects took place remotely – to name just a few of the things that have taken place over the last year. We had hoped to bring everything together and host a celebration weekend at the end of 2020 but alas, we were defeated by the virus once more…
